Last month we released Multi-Step Zaps. They unlock possibilities like chaining many Actions to one Trigger, or transforming data with custom code. | But Search Actions might be the most powerful addition. They help you find and update existing data, so your apps stay in constant conversation. | Now you have another layer of knowledge to play with. Tapping into real-time data means you can revise entries on the fly, or snag recent info about a contact. It's a custom search engine for your team's tools. |
Here's how it works: Tell us what you're looking for, and your Zap will dig it up. You'll see searches as a choice when you're adding an Action step to a Zap. Just pick an app and we'll show you the options. | Once your Zap uncovers a match, you can use the result throughout the rest of your workflow. |
Plus we built in fallbacks in case a search comes up short. At the bottom, you'll see an option to create data if it doesn't exist yet. Check the box, and your Zap will set up a new contact, invoice, project, or whatever if it can't find a relevant result. |
Like any good detective, Zaps need a clue to start the investigation. Each app accepts different inputs: it could be a name, title, email address, or other bit of data. Once you plug in a query your Zap will do its best to match you up with the right result. | Search Actions aren't available on every integration yet, but we're working on it! Here's an up-to-date list of Zapier apps that support searching. |
